A Message From The Pastor

Throughout history, God has called individuals and groups to carry out his purpose of redeeming the world back to himself. Our God is about community and as such he uses local church congregations to reach the lost and unchurched. For the past eighty years God who is at work all around us has allowed the New Zion family to be a part of his great work.

As an ordinary group of believers we have seen God do the extraordinary in us and through us. We are reminded of those earlier years when our church ceased to meet for worship but then God raised up the right man whom he would use to lead this community of believers. Great strides were made by our church as God continued to reward us for being faithful over that which was little. Some of us were there when we moved from our former location to our present site. God was in the move and as a result we experienced growth.

Over the years our world view has been broadened as we moved beyond being a small inner city church to a church that now participates in missions by giving money and sending members across the state, nation, and overseas. We also strive to make a difference at home by being involved in Inner City Evangelism (ICE) and by giving money and mentoring support to the Meadowview Mission Center.

After eighty years of following the Lord and striving to do what he has asked us to do let us look forward to the most exciting years yet for our church. We wait patiently and expectantly to see what God will do as he directs us in becoming the center of the New Zion Mission Incubator.

Together as a community of faith and with God on our side there is no limit as to what he will do through us. The great missionary William Carey once said, “We ought to attempt great things from God and expect great things from God.”

Let us keep our focus on God, be obedient to his Word, rely on the Holy Spirit and tell people about Jesus. By doing so we will not be just a good church but the great church God intends for us to become.

Your Servant,

Bro. Phil
